Ramblers – Morialta Falls

Thanks to Jo and Warren for organising a very pleasant walk to the First Falls at Morialta. Unfortunately with no rain there wasn’t much water coming over the falls but it is still a very spectacular location. The group was lucky enough to see a couple of Koalas on the walk into the falls.

Aged Care Information

The Secretary has sent out some information that may be of interest to members who know people in aged care or who may need to consider this option in the future. Please click on the link to view the relevant fact sheet(s)

2025 Annual General Meeting

The Gawler U3A AGM was held at the Gawler Sport and Recreation Centre on Wednesday February 12th. Approximately 30 members attended to hear reports from the Executive and elect a new committee. The Chairperson thanked members for their attendance and the committee for their efforts over the last 12 months, with a special mention for the Secretary (Jill) and the Treasurer (Stuart). As reported by the Treasurer the club is in a very sound financial position.

After the reports had been presented all committee positions were declared vacant and a new committee elected. The committee for 2025 comprises Chairperson – Libby Clift, Secretary – Jill Richard, Treasurer – Stuart Dunk and committee members Margaret Raggatt, Fran Mason, Kim Rainsford, Libby Clift, Kathryn Warburton, Lyn Hill and Jacquie Stapleton.

After the election it was the Chairperson’s delightful duty to announce that Margaret Raggatt, Ann Weiss, Linda Johnston, Berlinda Swyghuizen and Jo Riley had been awarded life membership, in recognition of their commitment and service to Gawler U3A.

AGM Update

Further to the earlier post the committee is pleased to advise that 5 members will be awarded life membership at the AGM.

After the AGM there will be morning tea for those who are able to stay and socialise for a short while.

Gawler U3A Annual General Meeting

A final reminder for the AGM on 12th February, starting at 9:15am. It has an early start to allow members to attend activities commencing at 10:00am.

All committee positions will be declared vacant and we are seeking nominations for the executive positions (Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) as well as for the general committee (7 positions).

Without members volunteering for the committee Gawler U3A would cease to exist and members would be unable to participate in the wide range of activities that are on offer. For the general committee it requires no more than a few hours a month to attend a meeting, help on Registration Day and assist the Executive, as required.

If you wish to nominate yourself or another member please use the link below to access the nomination form. Once completed please forward it to the Secretary

Registration Day 15/1/2025

It was pleasing to see a good attendance at the 2025 Registration Day. A special thanks to the leaders and committee members who arrived early to set up for the day and stayed after to assist in cleaning up. A extra special mention from me to the supplier of the biscuits. Very tasty.

The day was very successful with a good mix of new and renewing members. This year we were fortunate to have some leaders on hand to talk to about their particular activity. Judging by the number of members congregating in the leader area the opportunity to talk to the leaders was appreciated.

With the registration day now complete we can look forward to the start the first term of 2025, which is just a few weeks away. Don’t forget the AGM on Feb 12th at 9:15am. The time has been specially arranged to allow you to attend and still make it to activities commencing at 10am

Best wishes to all for a successful 2025.
